La Sortie Français

This film grew out of my fascination with French cinema and its ability to capture life as it happens — dans la vie. Watching films like The 400 Blows and Breathless showed me how powerful it can be to strip away polish and focus instead on immediacy, imperfection, and truth. I wanted to bring that same spirit into my own work.

Shooting in France during the Cannes Film Festival meant embracing unpredictability. Equipment broke, sound failed, schedules collapsed, but instead of fighting it, I leaned into an on-the-go style of filmmaking. The camera followed life as it unfolded, and those unplanned moments became the soul of the film.

This project isn’t about gloss or spectacle. It’s about persistence, improvisation, and letting the rough edges show. My goal was to create something that feels alive, unfiltered, and grounded in the spirit of French cinema that inspired it.

I submitted these films to various colleges in an attempt to show my cinematography, storytelling, and artistic vision. They illustrate the everyday emotions that influence me and how they impact those little moments in life.
